I never thought I'd find myself craving the small-town life, but I've grown to hate L.A. and all that comes with it. When a brand deal goes south, I put my life in the City of Angels on hold to move to Parkerville, Maine temporarily. With my sister and assistant living there it seems like the most logical place to go. Until my assistant offers for me to move in with her dad.
Her very hot, rugged dad.
That may or may not hate me after I tried to hook my sister up with him, but she ended up dating his son instead.
Oops.
It was an honest mistake.
I fully expect Derrick to tell me to find another place to bum it, but by some miracle he agrees to let me stay in one of the empty rooms, as long as I do my share, and help keep the place clean and make some meals.
Easy enough, right?
Except I can't stop thinking about Derrick in ways a twenty-six-year-old woman definitely shouldn't be about her forty-four-year-old pseudo-landlord. Who can blame me when he likes walking around the house shirtless and in gray sweatpants?
I'm convinced the feelings are all one way, until I accidentally hear him moaning my name.

REVIEW:
So firstly I haven’t read much age gap stories, don’t know, the ones I did read it just didn’t click with me. But this one, I have to say if the author didn’t bring up the age gap between these two it wouldn’t have read so to me.
I felt like Derrick and Izzy really had a connection 😊 And the chemistry between them was HOT. I loved the tension between them, like both of them felt it, but it's like they didn’t want to say voice it out loud…
Izzy moved to small town Parkerville, Maine where her sister lives, after some drama with her job. When she got to town, thinking she was moving in with her sister, but that didn’t work out. So her assistant offered for her to stay with her dad, Derrick. Who Izzy thinks hates her due to some issues when she tried to set him up with her sister.
Moving in with Derrick, might have been a good thing, but also might not. Her attraction to Derrick might just get her into some trouble. But what happens if the attraction is mutual…
Loved the story, loved that it wasn’t just a quick get together. They really took their time and it was definitely a slow burn 😊 One thing that niggled me a bit was Izzy’s sister. I mean I felt like she could have been a bit more interested in her sister’s job going up in flames. But seemed like she was to much ‘in love’ with her boyfriend. I loved that Izzy could confide in Derrick, even though he didn’t really understand her job, he made an effort to listen and hear her.
Loved their banter, loved that they had this time together watching series or doing a face mask…lol, very low on the drama… All in all, for my first Micalea Smeltzer story I definitely loved it 😊
