Colt by Jessica Peterson

She isn’t supposed to care about a ranch. She definitely isn't supposed to fall for the foreman. And his six-year-old son is absolutely, definitely not supposed to capture her heart.
Lainey Brown is not ranch material. She's a city girl who landed on the legendary Wallace Ranch to give the place a fresh coat of branding—and get her career back on track. She's got no interest in cowboys, cattle, or the infuriatingly gorgeous foreman who clearly wants her gone.
Colton Wallace has spent every day since losing his wife building something worth leaving his son: a spotless reputation, a thriving operation, and a life with no room for complications. The last thing he needs is a firecracker from Austin with a sketchbook full of big ideas and a smile that makes him forget every reason he swore off wanting things he can't keep.
But somewhere between their very first fight and a Texas night sky that stretches on forever, something shifts. Lainey stops counting the days until she can leave. And Colt stops pretending he wants her to.The ranch has always been the Wallace legacy. But Colt is starting to wonder if the best thing that's ever happened to it—and to him—just walked in wearing city shoes.
COLT is the first cowboy romance book in the all-new DOUBLE U RANCH series, releasing summer 2026!

🎧Audiobook Review🎧
Colt Wallace is a single dad and foreman of the Double U Ranch. Until his dad decides to hire a marketing expert. No matter what he says, it seems its been decided. Now his stuck with her and all her ideas to change their ranch. He has no time for complications, and Lainey Brown is definitely a complication he didn’t see coming…
Lainey is definitely not a farm girl, more a city girl than anything. Now she is working at the Wallace Ranch to give the place new branding. All she wants to do is her job and get back to the City. But now she has to deal with the gorgeous foreman who wants absolutely nothing to do with her.
Spending so much time together is definitely not good for Colt and his son, but it seems like fate has thrown them together and soon ‘hate’ turns into something so much more for both of them. Now Lainey isn’t o keen to get back home and Colt stops pretending he doesn’t want her…
I don’t do a lot of ‘enemies to lovers’ romances, but this one was a good one. I love me a good single dad romance and Colt was a single dad who needed someone like Lainey even though he didn’t know it. Lainey needed to get away from home, she didn’t want to end up like her mother, being around Colt and Dean (his son) made her realize there is more life than what her mother’s life is.
Audio was a cherry on top of the story. I am a forever Aiden Snow fan and Vanessa Edwin. From start to finish they brought this story to life for me. Loved it and definitely a recommendation from me if you love a single dad, enemies to lovers, grumpy-sunshine story 😊 and you won't regret listening to Aiden Snow’s gravelly voice 😊
